Never say Never

Strangefish will play again.

Around 6th May 2023 one of the members of the band has a significant birthday and as such we have decided to get together for “one last show”.

It will be at Local Authority, Sheffield; and tickets will be available from Corporation very soon.

We hope you can make this truly special event.

Official Statement

We wish to announce that sadly, Strangefish have decided to call it a day.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a huge challenge for everyone and we are no exception. It’s also been an opportunity to reevaluate priorities. A result of this it is no longer possible for Strangefish to function as a band. This decision has been taken in a mutual and amicable manner.

Future gigs will be cancelled and ticket sales refunded.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the last 32 years.

Fortune Retelling Rescheduled

It’s with great sadness that we have to announce the rescheduling of Fortune Retelling Live.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak the gig industry has virtually frozen and practically every single gig over the next 4 weeks is now cancelled or postponed.

The chosen date is 26th of September and The Met will be in touch regarding your options for transferring your tickets or refunds.

We are currently attempting to arrange a live stream gig for the evening of the 4th and will keep you updated as we finalise the proceedings.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience, but as is the general consensus of most people in this situation the safety of the public is paramount.

The Final Rehearsal!

Honoured!

The band had our last rehearsal before the forthcoming Robin 2 “Prog all Dayer” today. It has to be said it was rather nice taking our eyes off Fortune Telling for a short while do we can give you a nice selection from the back catalogue.

We were greeted with a fantastic rainbow upon leaving the studio at the end of the day. It must be a sign!

A Successful Start for the Spirit of Prog

It was a great night for the Spirit of Prog last Saturday as the new society kicked off at Local Authority in Sheffield.

A nice crowd assembled to see us play a selection of tracks from all the albums, including a very well received version of the 18 minute “Delicate”.

We also announced that the 4th of April 2020 is now the final agreed date for Fortune Retelling. The gig goes on sale soon from The Met website and we advise you to buy very quickly as tickets are strictly limited to 80.

Strangefish @ 30

We’d all absolutely love to thank all of you who made our evening last night one to remember.

From the show staff, LeeLee, the engineers, Jake our own sound engineer; Ethryll (Jake, Martin and Hannah); Alistair McGeorge; Martin Hudson for bringing us onstage with his “glasses on the floor” and of course to all of you who bought tickets and supported the great Spirit of Progressive Rock on their brand new venture.

We are currently seeking a gig for October or November; but until then we will be out again next April as we celebrate 15 years of Fortune Telling with a special one-off performance and live recording.

Until then, keep climbing those ladders to the top! We’ll certainly try.

A brilliant review from the Bilston gig.

Spirit of Progressive Rock

Sunday 5th May 2019, The Robin 2, Bilston, West Midlands

It was the first May
Bank Holiday weekend of the year and hordes of fans descended upon Bilston,
well okay, maybe not hordes of fans, but a respectable sized crowd for this
special night (organised by Dave Kennedy as a memorial-gig for his wife Steph).

First up was Stoke based band Encircled, a band that I saw for the first time at the recent Fusion festival and one that deservingly received a glowing report and a new set of fans from that performance. Encircled are Mark “Busby” Burrows (vocals, guitar, keyboard and “smartphone”), Scott Evans (bass) and Gareth Evans (guitar) plus Conor Chamber (drums). Opening with “The Obsession” from their latest album “The Universal Mirth” they immediately caught the attention of the crowd, particularly as the smartphone makes a guest appearance with Mark utilising it as a prop swiping left…
